The Three Principles of Ginza Sembikiya

1. Delivering the Finest Quality

We in Ginza Sembikiya continue to take pride in, and build on our traditions established since 1894. We believe that to ensure the finest quality there is nothing that rivals the senses of man.
In partnership with the hard work and careful attention to detail of the fruit growers, combined with the knowledge of agrigcultural researchers the best quality of fruit is produced,Our Fruit Specialists, called Mekiki, are extensively trained in the skills learnt since 1894 and handed down through the generations select only the finest fruits.
They check and monitor the fruits using each of the five senses; colour, lustre, shape, smell, feel, and even sound.
If at any stage the Mekiki are not convinced that fruit the meets our exacting standards, for any reason, it will never be sold by Ginza Sembikiya.
Each fruit is selected to be in the perfect condition for enjoying the best taste experience.
Note : Because our fruits are selcted using the five senses of our Mekiki to be in perfect condition we are not able to deliver our fruit overseas.

2. Seasonality & Perfect Timing

Based on our long experience, we in Ginza Sembikiya believe that the finest and best tasting fruit is only grown in its season.
For this reason we only offer the first of the seasons' fruit, selected by our Mekiki for you to enjoy at the perfect time for the finest tasting experience.

3. The tradition of Fruit Parlour

In 1913 Ginza Sembikiya created the first“Fruit Parlour”serving fruit deserts for example“Fruit Ponchi”and“Fruit a la mode”which continue today.
The idea for serving fruit desserts was very innovative at the time.
While we have retained the original recipes and tastes of the first Fruit Parlour menu, we have continually added new recipes over time for each generation.
Only the finest fruits selected by our Mekiki are used, carefully matched with unique ingredients developed by Ginza Sembikiya such as light whipped cream, ice creams, sorbets and fruit sauces.
Today we have unique desert dishes that appeal to everyone.
